Daddy Gets the Job Done

Apparently, I only need 5 minutes with daddy to fall asleep. 2.5 hours with mama was not doing it. I love my daddy.

Teeth?

My mama is hoping that my teeth are coming within the next day or two. I have spent much of the last two or three days with wakeful sleep. She thinks my teeth have been keeping me in light sleep because I wake at the slightest little creak. Strange, but this comes on the heels of almost a week of me being able to have my parents leave the room with me awake because I could get myself to sleep.

Currently, I have been screaming on and off for hours. It feels like the old days, the early days. Wakeful me screaming, desperate parents singing. My mama's singing will quiet me from screaming hysterically to the point of hyperventilation, but my daddy's chanting will stop me on a dime. I am suffering and will take little comfort, but it would seem I will take that one comfort. So, bouncing and swaying in the old mei tai sling listening to my daddy's chanting voice....that's where I'll continue tonight's journey towards actual sleep.

Silly Me

I was making funny sounds inside this bottle my mama gave me. I thought it was so fun. Of course, when my mama got the camera I didn't do it too much, but I sure am cute!

Musical...and Tech Savvy Me

I love music. I love to play music, hear music, and dance to music. My daddy chants with me every day, and we play music together every day. I also like these versions of the Gayatri mantra and Hanuman chalisa. I have begun a new dance: the side sway. I get on my hands and knees and sway side to side with a big grin on my face. I do a little wiggle version in the video.

In addition to all this music, I like to play with the computer. I know you are supposed to tap keys. Unfortunately, the computer never seems to do what I am telling it to do. I think if the computer is on I should be Skyping with whoever I want or the music should keep going even when I push buttons making it stop. This is just not how it is working out for me. One more thing to learn.

I Like Olivia

Olivia and I have known each other since before birth. We have accomplished different things at different times, but can you believe we walked on the same day?! Tonight, my family went to Olivia's mama's art show opening. When I got there she was napping, and we all kind of rudely intruded on her awakening. My extra loud talking made her cry; she has been crying at loud or sudden noises lately. I really like Olivia. I walked after her as she walked away. I only wanted to give her a kiss!

First Round of Baby Club Documentation

A Moment

Anjali and I and the other babies played and played during Baby Club the other afternoon. Here is a snippet of me and Anjali in our excitement.

Transition

Here is a video of me before I was so confident walking. My mama is working on a good one of my skills now.

Getting into Things

I can now get into things. I can open lids. I like to open the lid on my homeopathic teething tablets. This time, I opened a bottle of immune-boosting, elderberry tablets. They were tart and stained me purple for a bit.

Talkin'

Well, since I was working so hard on walking, I figured I should do some work on talking. The last couple days I have been practicing "mamamamamama" and "dadadadadadada." For a while I have been saying these randomly over and over. The last few days though, there are times when I have looked at the right parent and said "mamama" and then "dadada"--shorter than when I'm usually messing around and also only one or the other at times depending on who is there. So, nothing definitive yet in the talking department, but my mama like that I have started my talking career saying more formally both mama and daddy at the same time.

Walking for Real

I am really and truly walking now. Today I walked almost 15 steps. I looked cool and confident as the muscle memory has built up. I still have more learning to do around walking, but my mama is wondering if this is enough walking to qualify for the tumbling class. Fun!

Talking with Zofta

I know how to talk on the phone, or on Skype. We tried Skyping my Zofta the other day. We couldn't see her, but I know how to talk so she talked and then I said something and then I waited for her and then my turn. I spoke nice and loud, with all my passion. Skype wasn't really working, though, so my parents called later when Uncle Ram and Tia would also be there with my E-ma. My Zofta is so nice! We talked and talked on the phone, but by the time my mama got the camera I was done talking. Ha!

Me and the Doggies

Usually, I can't kiss my doggies because they are always moving around. I didn't know, but we have a doggie that stays still! So, I gave him lots of kisses.

Crooked Capers

My new friend Joaquin came over today. He was born two weeks after me. As you can see, we are different sizes and capable of different things. I really liked him from the start. I tried to give him kisses. When he wouldn't kiss me, I was a bit upset, but eventually he came around and gave me a kiss too! We didn't get to play much because both of us were sleepy, but I look forward to next time when we will get to know each other better.

Since my mama was excited about me walking, she made Tia help her get a video by luring me with her phone.

These Boots Are Made for....Walkin!

Yup. I'm on it. Technically I have walked. Even if you are a stickler for details, you can see I will be walking for real within the week. My mama is unexpectedly saddened that my baby days are streaming behind me as I literally enter toddlerhood.
